From Your Chef de Gare
m It
has been a wonderful year for the Voiture. 2011 brought us the opening of our Boxcar Room; safety improvements all over
our physical footprint including both Bingo Parlor and the Chateau; equipment upgrades; larger acknowledgement from all corners
of our community; the National Promenade; increased community use of our facilities. While there were some growing pains
and scratching of heads for a bit, we came off looking much better than the Columbia River Crossing group did and got more
bang for the buck. Voyageurs attended many and varied community events and came back with admirers and supporters of
our efforts throughout Clark County, but especially with the veterans community. m I am especially proud of these additional efforts by Voyageurs: mmm-The establishment of the Clark County Veterans
Assistance Center on 13th St. inVancouver;
mmmm-the
opening of the Veterans Museum at the VA Medical Center Vancouver; mmmm-establishment of our own La Femmes Cabane;
mmmm-the
emergence of the Community Military Appreciation Committee. m There are too many Voyageurs to list in these endeavors and unfair to those of you who,
almost invisibly, do your share in the community to mention everyone that contributed. I DO, however, want to single
out Bill Hauser and Phil Yasson for their effective efforts to improve our online and written communications through an improved
newsletter and better use of the WWW: Thanks you two for helping us all stay on the same page. m We're stronger as a team! Thanks to you all! Keep up the fantastic
spirit and work you do for us all, team! m Mike

From Your Correspondant n February 2012 Our renewals for 2012 have been forging
ahead. We have 264 of our goal of 270 on the 2012 role. This is 97.8%. We finished with twelve members who have decided to
not renew. At the February Prom, we will be voting on the latest nominations that have
been turned in. A wreck is being scheduled for Saturday morning, 24 March 2012. The Grande du Washington Petit Prom
will be held here at our Chateau on March 23 and 24. A registration
form is included in the Jig-a-Jig which you will receive soon. Let’s have a good turn out from our Voiture. There will not be a crab feed at the February Prom. It has been
scheduled for Saturday 3 March . The House Committee has hired an electrician to install lighting between the north door
of the Chateau, past the smoking area, and over to the Boxcar entrance door. This will be a blessing on these very black nights
that we are having. Also a light will be installed at the rear door to the kitchen, another area hidden by the nights of no
visibility. Phil
