Veterans who do not get their care at VA or have a claim with VA are more than welcome to join the call and hear more about PACT Act and any new information that they and their families should be aware of now. \nThis event is by phone only to reach as many Veterans and their loved ones as possible in Oregon and Southwest Washington. DESCRIPTION:After three years\, Walk & Knock will be back in the neighborhoods\, picking up non-perishable food and toiletries. Walk and Knock\, one of the nation’s largest one-day food drives is a Non-Profit 100% volunteer organization that collects charitable donations of food\, supplies\, and money\, for the Clark County Food Bank for providing food to those in need across our community. This drive takes place every year on the Saturday of December\, which this year is Saturday\, December 3\, 2022. \nYou can help in the fight against hunger by filling your Walk and Knock grocery bag with non-perishables and leaving it on your front porch on Saturday morning before 9:00 AM. If you don’t have a Walk and Knock grocery bag\, please feel free to use any grocery bag\, just be sure to label it “Walk and Knock”. A half a bag\, a full bag\, or even two bags if you can… every bit helps! \n\nVolunteers will gather together Saturday morning and begin their routes. They go door–to–door to collect the bags and deliver the food to one of several drop–off locations or staging areas located throughout Clark County. The food is then boxed by volunteers and delivered to the Clark County Food Bank. From there it is distributed to local food banks which distribute the collected food to people in need. \nThe Walk and Knock Food Drive encompasses the entire Clark County area. Volunteers come from local church groups\, high school clubs\, and several other organizations\, as well as hundreds of individuals who answer the call for help. Not only do our neighborhoods light up\, but so does the Columbia River. One of the most unique Christmas lighting displays around Clark County starts Friday\, December 2\, 2022. \nThe Christmas Ship Parade started out as one lone sailboat\, and now the fleet averages 60 ships (between the Columbia River and Willamette River fleets) adorned with Christmas lights and decorations. The Christmas Ship Parade has become a family tradition for many boat owners\, and the Skippers pay for their own decorations and fuel costs\, for the enjoyment of all. As this is an all-volunteer organization\, not all ships make it out every night. \nThe Columbia Fleet will set sail on Friday\, December 2\, 2022\, and will sail for a total of 15 nights through December 21\, 2022. SUMMARY:Windhaven Ride for Veterans
DESCRIPTION:In summary\, this is a fundraiser for the Windhaven Veterans Program – an equestrian therapy service for active and veteran military personnel with service-related mental and physical injury.  The event begins as a Hot Rod/Classic Car/Motorcycle Rally at Ilani Resorts. Once registration and opening ceremonies are complete we mount up and depart as a group for an escorted ride up through the mountains to Territorial Park in Amboy where the main event will occur. The main event is open to the general public walk-ins even if they do not participate in the rally. \nTo pull this off we have two campaigns. \nRegistration/donation is the primary campaign. The American Legion Tum Tum Post 168 Amboy is guaranteeing that 100% of all funds received from participants in the event will go to support Veteran Programs\, (details found in the charter). To help the Post achieve this effort a second campaign for project sponsorship is also running in parallel. At this time\, the sponsored campaign has allowed the entire project to be successfully self-funded\, but we have a long way to go so the effort is still in full swing.
