DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 31st Annual Veterans Day Ceremony and Lough LegParade at Fort Vancouver! \nThe parade begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday\, November 11. This year marks the 31st anniversary of the community celebration honoring Veterans of all service branches. \nThis is a free\, community event that is open to the public!  \n [Final route pending event permits] The parade route begins on the Fort Vancouver National Site at Evergreen Blvd and East Reserve Street. The parade heads west along Evergreen Blvd\, past Officer’s Row and the Providence Academy. At the Vancouver Library\, the parade will head south down “C” Street and turn west on 8th Street. From 8th\, the parade will turn north on Main Street\, and head east on 11th Street\, ending back at the Providence Academy. Attendees are welcome to watch the parade from the sidewalks\, grass\, and covered areas along the parade route. \n\n   Schedule\n\n\n\n\n9:00 a.m. – VIP Reception at the Providence Academy10:00 a.m. – Ceremony\, Providence Academy Ballroom. Features a keynote speaker\, local veterans\, and honors the 2017 Grand Marshal of the Lough Legacy Veterans Parade.11:00 a.m. – Veterans Parade Begins. Race to Remember will lead out the parade. The parade starts at Evergreen Blvd and East Reserve Street. The parade heads along Officer’s Row and into downtown Vancouver. [Parade Route Map] \n1:00 p.m. – Parade Ends (approximately)\n\n\n\n\nThe parade attracts more than 120 entries with approximately 2\,500 individuals marching or riding in the parade. Bring your family and come down in the evening to claim your spot among neighbors and friends. Then sit back\, relax\, and enjoy one of Vancouver’s most beloved traditions. For the first time in a long time\, our celebration of freedom is FREE! \nBring $5 as a suggested donation\, and help keep the fireworks coming back! When you donate to the Independence Day Celebration event\, you’re helping to keep this wonderful event going year after year. \nBring chairs\, food and drinks (no alcohol please!)\, and your family for this beautiful show. Food will be available for purchase from local food vendors. DESCRIPTION:Portland’s Korean\, Chinese and Japanese communities will cooperate once again to offer this year’s “Drums of Three Nations” concert at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday\, June 11\, 2017 in the Outdoor (covered) Plaza of World Trade Center 2 at 121 SW Salmon Street\, Portland\, OR 97204. Tickets are free and may be obtained online (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/drums-of-three-nations-tickets-32096089267). Just click on “Register” and follow the instructions. This year’s concert will feature our own Ms. Seung Hee Ji and her troupe from Oregon Korean Performing Arts. Performing for the Chinese and community will be Lin Li\, an award-winning percussionist from Fujian and the Portland Lee Association Dragon and Lion Dance Team. The Japanese community will be represented by the well-known Portland Taiko group.

DESCRIPTION:News Release from Fort Vancouver National Historic Site\nPosted on FlashAlert: May 24th\, 2017 12:42 PM\n\nExperience free outdoor activities and family fun at the ninth annual National Get Outdoors Day on Saturday\, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver. \nKids and families can enjoy climbing a rock wall\, learning how to shoot a bow and arrow\, catching a fish from a pond and playing lacrosse\, bicycling\, and disc golf. Smokey Bear\, Woodsy Owl\, Jr. Beaver and their friends will be on hand to greet visitors. A historic fur trader encampment will re-enact life at Fort Vancouver during the 1840s. \nNational Get Outdoors Day is a national free event that encourages local residents\, especially youth\, to pursue healthy\, active outdoor lifestyles by embracing our parks\, forests\, wildlife refuges\, and other public lands and waters. The Gifford Pinchot and Mt. Hood National Forests\, Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area\, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site\, City of Vancouver\, Parks Foundation of Clark County and many other public\, private\, and non-profits groups are partnering together to present this local event.
