DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION\n\n\nThe Heroes’ Challenge is a Race and Fundraiser for local military Heroes held on the morning of the 4th of July.  Proceeds go directly to supporting local Heroes’ and their families when “Right Now” assistance is needed! \nThe Heroes’ Challenge Race includes a10K-5K-or 1K Walk/Run\, zero-elevation\, in-out course\, along the beautiful Columbia River dike\, with majestic Mt. Hood standing sentinel on the horizon\, as you travel eastward. \nThank you for having the Backs of Heroes!  Every paid challenger receives the official\, Heroes’ Challenger’s Dog-tag and admission to the Patriots’ BBQ and Concert. For those 21 and over\, there will also be a Challenger’s Beer Garden. The Children’s 1K is free and only includes the Dog-tag.  Additional BBQ & Concert tickets are available for $10 each and can be purchased at the time of registration or\, if needed purchased the day-of.  Save Time & Money\, register on-line at www.BackaHero.Today \nRegister NOW to get your T-Shirt!  If you register by May 31\, challengers will be sure to receive a complimentary performance T-shirt! There will only be a limited number of shirts and sizes after May 31\, and there is NO guarantee of a t-shirt after May 31. \nEvent Schedule… Day of registration opens at 8am.  Opening Ceremony begins at 9am\, the 10K Run starts at 9:15am\, 5K Fun Walk/Run–starts at 9:30 and a FREE 1K for Children 9 and younger starts at 9:45am. The Virtual Race (come–cheer and stay for the BBQ & Concert) starts at 9:15. The Awards Ceremony–10:30am\, followed by the Patriots BBQ-Concert (& Beer Garden for Challengers 21 years and older) 11am-2pm.  Raffle tickets will also be sold to help support Point Man Ministries’ “Right Now” fund.  Prizes include a night at Skamania Lodge and Pendleton’s ‘Grateful Nation’ blanket. Many attendees enjoy wearing vintage 1940s styles\, or vintage US military uniforms. The event also features a no-host bar. \nIn addition to serving as a fundraiser for the Friends of Fort Vancouver\, this event evokes the World War II history of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. SUMMARY:7th Annual Salute to Veterans … Car & Motorcycle Show
DESCRIPTION:This is a Car and Motorcycle Show that should definitely be on your schedule!  It’s the 7th Annual Salute to Veterans Car & Motorcycle Show.  We have produced the Veterans Car Shows for the past 6 years.  The first 5 benefited the Salvation Army Veterans & Family Center and last year the Hillsboro VFW was the beneficiary.  We have grown from 90 cars in 2012 to over 400 in 2017 and have raised over $164\,000 for local homeless veterans and their families. This year will be no different. The funds raised will go to local projects mostly run by volunteers.  \n We have grown up after 6 years and have made a very exciting alliance … The Multnomah Hot Rod Council (MHRC) will be presenting our Show this year!       \n We have always had a wonderful showing of support from all branches of the Military\, with a vehicle or two\, booths and even activities for the kids. We hope you join us at the Hillsboro Fair Complex in August!  We will have the usual Blue Grass Band\, DJ\, Huey helicopter landing\, Motorcycles\, and Vintage Military Vehicles from the\nMVCCO.  See the attached flyer for details.  I will also be calling the recruiting offices to discuss the Show.

Join B-17 Alliance for WWII Aircraft\, Vintage Aircraft\, Military & Aviation Swap Meet\, WWII Living History Encampment\, Military Vehicles\, Aviation Themed Rat Rods from the famous Gary Fisher located in Hood River\, Oregon & plenty of eats and drinks! Friday\, August 3\, 2018 also hosts a Fabulous 40’s Hangar Dance & Party (5:30pm-8:30pm) *Gate admission applies*\n\nErickson Aircraft Collections’ WWII P-40e Kittyhawk and SBD Dauntless will headline the 5thAnnual B-17 Alliance Foundation Fly-In Fundraiser.\n\nThe Lightning on display was manufactured by Lockheed in the spring of 1944 as a P‑38L\, S/N 44-27083\, and then sent to Dallas where it was converted to a photo recon F‑5G‑6‑LO before being transferred to Tinker Field\, Oklahoma. In January 1946 it was dropped from the U.S. Army Air Forces inventory and sold to civilian buyers ending up with Mark Hurd Aerial Surveys of Santa Barbara\, California. Bruce Pruett of Livermore\, California bought it from Hurd in 1968\, essentially for scrap value. In 1990 Jack Erickson acquired it for the museum and in 1995 restoration was started\, the first flight being made in early 1997.\nThe Erickson Aircraft Collection (formerly located at the historic Tillamook Air Museum in Tillamook\, Oregon) based in Madras\, Oregon displays a vintage WWII aircraft collection started by Jack Erickson in 1983. The collection features over twenty plus warbirds\, most of which are still in flying condition.\n\nFlying scheduleswww.warbirdsoverthewest.com\n\nKyle Bushman’s 1943 Navy N3N “Old Glory” & Bryan Harper’s 1943 T-6 Texan Aircraft (Harper Family Farms). Selected in 2017 from over 800 rally applicants Kyle is among the rare pilots of the 15 competing rally teams in the Vintage Air Rally Race Ushuaia2USA scheduled for November 2018 spanning South America. 15 Teams\, 44 days\, 9200 miles.\n\nB-17 Alliance Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the people of WWII\, all veterans and the restoration of the “Lacey Lady”\, a B-17G Flying Fortress that served as a service station canopy in Milwaukie\, Oregon for over 67 years.
