From the earliest days of the Vancouver Barracks, government-sponsored pictures and engravings were created, documenting the history of the installation. In addition to official images, private individuals took pictures of the daily life of soldiers and their families.

Join us for this interesting discussion with historian and archaeologist Major Jeff Davis, (U.S. Army, Retired) and learn about the work of military and civilian photographers, both identified and anonymous, including Laura Lee Otis and That Man Marcell, and see samples of their images. Jeff will present images from his extensive collection of vintage photographs of Vancouver Barracks, along with biographical information about the photographers. Images will include historic interiors of the Marshall House, street views in the Vancouver Barracks, and soldiers working and relaxing. Many of the photographs have not previously been shared publicly.
