It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Voyageur Gene Sorenson.
Gene Arnold Sorenson, 81, passed away on Jan. 29, 2025 in Vancouver, WA. He was born the second of five siblings to Arnold and Stella Sorenson in Ellensburg, Wa.
Gene met his wife Connie in junior high school. He graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1962 and married Connie in 1964. Their two children, Tami and Brett, were born in 1967 and 1969. They moved to Vancouver in 1968, where he spent the remainder of his life. Gene served in the army and had a long career as a USDA food inspector. He retired in 1999. He then worked as a maintenance manager for 40et8 Bingo working alongside Connie. After retiring from that job he helped Brett out as a delivery driver. Gene was an avid fisherman and spent many days fishing with friends and family.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Tami Archer (Scott); son, Brett (Stacy); brother Jerry (Ann), and sister Sonya; and his four grandchildren, Jordan, Jayd, Megan and Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his wife Connie, mother and father, brother Les and brother Roger. Celebration of Life will be held on Sat. March 15, from 1-3 p.m. at The 40et8 Chateau,2809 NE 78th St, Vancouver, WA
